AURORA | Legacy scored first and last Friday night, but Grandview dominated in between on its way to a lopsided Homecoming football win.
The Wolves spotted the Lightning a field goal in the opening quarter after a muffed punt, the reeled off 44 consecutive points before they finally allowed a touchdown in a 44-10 romp in front of a packed, energetic house at Legacy Stadium.
Coach Tom Doherty’s Grandview team got two touchdown passes and a rushing score from senior quarterback Blitz McCarty, a receiving and passing touchdown from senior Asher Mattson and two rushing scores from senior Chris Blanks to even its record at 2-2.
The Wolves snapped a two-game losing streak since a season-opening win over Vista PEAK Prep and avenged a tough seven-point loss to the Lightning (1-2) last season.
Grandview plays host to Rock Canyon (3-0) at 6 p.m. Sept. 20 at Legacy Stadium.
