AURORA | Things have gotten decidedly tougher for the Vista PEAK football team since its varsity debut.

The Bison opened the season with a victory over Hinkley in their first varsity contest in Zero Week, but have surrendered more than 50 points in back-to-back defeats since then.

Faith Christian piled up 51 points on Saturday afternoon at Aurora Public Schools Stadium in a 51-6 victory that dropped coach Pat Rock’s Vista PEAK squad to 1-2. The Bison allowed 54 points to Aurora Central in its previous contest after holding Hinkley to 14 in the opener.

David Smashum IV caught a 9-yard touchdown pass from Adam Puehler for the lone points for the Bison, who were plagued by turnovers in a game in which they put up 318 yards.

D.J. Ortiz hauled in seven passes for 111 yards.

The Eagles (1-1) scored five touchdowns and a field goal on offense, but also got in the end zone via an interception and blocked punt.

Vista PEAK has a road game against Conifer on Sept. 15 before a bye week.
