AURORA | The Eaglecrest football team piled up 62 points a victory to open the season and nearly matched that in a single half Friday night.

The Raptors — the most prolific scoring team in Class 5A through three games with 160 points — jumped on visiting Overland early and then a late flurry of touchdowns, including three straight from senior Langston Williams, gave them 55 points at the break of a 55-13 victory at frigid Legacy Stadium.

Senior running back JP Luketu had his second three-touchdown game of the season, senior quarterback Khalil Howard rushed for a score and senior linebacker Mohammed Zurigat tallied a touchdown on a fumble return for coach Shawn Marsh’s Eaglecrest team (3-0 overall, 3-0 in Centennial League play).

The coronavirus-shortened regular season has reached the midway points and the Raptors (ranked No. 5 in the CHSAANow.com 5A coaches poll) are now the lone Aurora-area team that remains unbeaten at the midway point of the coronavirus-shortened regular season after No. 7 Regis Jesuit’s loss to No. 10 Legend.

Overland (0-3, 0-2) — which remains looking to give new head coach Kyle Reese his first victory — got the third touchdown of the season from the connection of senior quarterback Kai Ilela and sophomore wide receiver Ismael Cisse in the final minute of the first quarter, but were held off the scoreboard again until Christopher Linzy’s 71-yard touchdown run on the final play of regulation.

Eaglecrest visits Arapahoe (2-1, 2-1) at 7 p.m. Oct. 30 at Littleton Public Schools Stadium, the same day Overland goes against Cherry Creek (3-0, 3-0) at 7 p.m. at Stutler Bowl.
