GREENWOOD VILLAGE | When scoring on defense, the Eaglecrest football team was a perfect 6-0 in the regular season.

The scoring binge — and coinciding win streak — continued in postseason play, as sophomore Cooper Shaw returned an interception for a touchdown in a pivotal moment to help the Raptors to a 32-10 victory over 19th-seeded Legacy in a Class 5A first round state playoff game Friday night at Stutler Bowl.

Coach Jesse German’s 14th-seeded Eaglecrest team — playing a home game at an alternate site with two other district teams in action at Legacy Stadium — got three rushing touchdowns from sophomore Clyde Surrell and a punt return score from senior Cameron Bell en route to the program’s first postseason victory since 2019.

Eaglecrest improved to 7-4 on the season and moved into the second round, where it will take on undefeated and third-seeded Mountain Vista (10-0), which had a bye.
