AURORA | Seven city teams were in the 32-team Class 5A state football playoff field revealed Sunday and five won’t have far to go in the first round.

In seeding released by the Colorado High School Activities Association, four Aurora squads — plus one road team, Regis Jesuit — will open the postseason in town, while two will travel.

With a city-best 8-1 record, Cherokee Trail received the No. 3 overall seed and will be on home turf for the opening round, as will No. 9 Grandview, No. 12 Rangeview and No. 13 Gateway — in addition to the Olys’ opponent, No. 20 Regis Jesuit, in an all-Aurora opener. Overland, the No. 19 seed, and No. 22 Eaglecrest will take to the road for the first round, which will be spread over Thursday, Friday and Saturday,

Coach Monte Thelen’s Centennial League champion Cherokee Trail team was seeded only behind No. 1 ThunderRidge and No. 2 Ralston Valley and brings a three-game winning streak into the postseason since its only loss of the season — a 21-14 defeat at the hands of Cherry Creek — on Oct. 5. A stout defense that has yielded just 102 points in nine games (11.3 ppg) and limited Overland to a touchdown in a 33-7 victory on Oct. 26 put the Cougars in a strong position in the postseason.

Cherokee Trail opens by playing host to No. 30 Mountain Range (5-4) — which had to beat Poudre in its season finale to make the playoff field — at 7 p.m. Friday at Legacy Stadium.

Grandview, which led Aurora teams in 2011 by advancing to the 5A semifinals, has won five of its last six games and comes into the postseason at 6-3 overall.

Coach John Schultz’s Wolves are set to play host to No. 24 Fairview (5-4) at 7 p.m. Friday at Stutler Bowl.

Rangeview won a 38-35 slugfest with Denver East in its regular season finale on Oct. 26 to win the Aurora League championship, the third straight league title for coach Dave Gonzales’ crew.

The Raiders played a loaded non-league schedule to open the season and lost three games, but have won their past six games and got the exact same seed they had in last season’s playoff when they lost to Cherry Creek in the first round.

Rangeview will be at home to open the playoffs for the fourth straight season, drawing a visit from No. 21 Horizon (6-3) at 6 p.m. Friday at Aurora Public Schools Stadium.

On the same APSS field at 6 p.m. Thursday, an all-Aurora match is set between No. 13 Gateway and No. 20 Regis Jesuit.

Coach Justin Hoffman’s Olys come in with a 7-2 record and losses to only Cherokee Trail and Rangeview, led by a defense that has allowed just 66 points this season thus far. Gateway outscored its last two opponents — Hinkley and Adams City — by a combined total of 138-0.

Regis Jesuit was one of five teams with 4-5 records to make the playoffs, aided by its strength of schedule, as all nine of the Raiders’ opponents are in the playoff field.

Coach Mark Nolan has guided Regis Jesuit to the playoffs in all four of his seasons at the helm and has his current group in the postseason despite a rash of season-ending injuries early in the season.

Overland won just one game in each of the past two seasons, but returns to the postseason in 2012 under new coach Seth Replogle after winning five games in the regular season.

The 19th-seeded Trailblazers (5-4) face a familiar foe in the opening round, as they will play at No. 14 Mullen in a battle of former Centennial League rivals. The teams will meet at 7 p.m. Friday at Mullen’s De La Salle Stadium.

Eaglecrest sat on the playoff bubble going in to its season finale against Cherry Creek on Oct. 26, but a rousing 29-28 come-from-behind victory over the Bruins wrapped up a playoff spot for the Raptors.

Coach Mike Schimtt’s up-and-down Eaglecrest group visits No. 11 Chatfield in a game scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Jefferson County Stadium.

Notes: Aurora’s four non-playoff qualifiers will play Week 10 games: No. 34 Smoky Hill plays at No. 33 Denver East, No. 46 Hinkley plays at No. 45 Fossil Ridge at 6 p.m. Thursday at French Field in Fort Collins and No. 49 Aurora Central plays host to No. 50 Lincoln at noon Saturday at APS Stadium.

  1. Word is Mark Nolan is on the hot seat with the Regis admin.,his coaches and the parents, his questionable play calling and lack of support from players and asst. coaches may have caught up with him. It would be great to see what this group of athletes could do with good leadership and competent coaching.
Lets hope that the Regis decision makers move swiftly to rid this great program of an arrogant, hypocritical, and incompetent head coach.

    1. I don’t know if this is true or not but if it is I would like to volunteer to put together a group to help him pack

  2. WOW —-Glad to hear that the school is paying attention to what the players and parents have known for quite some time. The behavior and dishonesty of this guy should have had him gone a long time ago.

  3. I dont think its just his bad coaching. I have been told his comments to players and disparaging remarks about assistant coaches and people in the community have caused the Regis administration to get involved. It seems he is an all around problem and should be replaced.

    1. Nolan is bad news to many — Coaches, players, and parents, not to mention students, his coaching and character are far below the standards of RJHS

    1. He is not on his way out, the Regis community truly appreciates what he stands for and although not perfect, one of the best football coaches Regis has had since Jim Ryan. Every team has unhappy parents that are never satisfied…sad to see it being taken to such a personal and hurtful level.

      1. Thank you for letting us know where the administration stands. It is unsettling to see/hear your dismissive attitude regarding an issue that
concerns many of us. Brushing this off as an act of “parents who are never satisfied” speaks volumes and sheds light on how a man like Nolan
is allowed to go on unchecked in this system.
        Shame on you.

  4. You guys are crazy I played for Nolan his first year at RJ and the change he brought benefited program beyond what anyone could’ve imagined. He’s made it to the playoffs 4 years in a row made it to quarter finals and the state championship his first two years. If that’s a bad coach then I don’t know what you’re looking for

    1. Glad you had a good experience. Nolan wasn’t offensive coordinator when you played, he is terrible, and he had not been there long enough for players to see through him yet. He is a horrible coach and a phony leader. no one wants to play for him, they play for each other, we don’t like him and we don’t trust him

      1. That is not true that “no one wants to play for him.” The boys should play for each other because they love each other and sweat with each other. One of the numerous job’s associated with being head coach, is to put the boys in situations where they can be successful. Given the injuries this year and adversity put in front of the Raiders this year, Nolan is successful — and still going!

        1. You are a nice person — it is obvious– but you are the scariest type of person there is–” oh oh everybody just keep ignoring the horrible way this man operates and go go go”.
Do you just not get it ,or do you just not care as long as there is a team and your baby is on it.

          1. Im kinda thinking there are only a couple people on this blog making up a bunch of different names…you should be a better example for your son that attends Regis…if there was this kind of outcry where “everyone” feels this way, including the assistant coaches, they would be coming in as a group to the athletic director demanding a change…you obviously dont understand what Regis is….unfortunate.

        2. You are a nice person — that is obvious, but you are so scary.
With you its ” don’t question this bully, this manipulator, just go go go– everything is fine”. It is sad you don’ care to put that energy into
the real issues at hand. Sometimes its easier to put on a Regis hat and then just plunge your head into the sand.

  5. I really feel that most of you have know idea who Nolan is and what Regis Jesuit is all about. This man wants nothing but the best for our students and always teaches the boys to put God as their center. He always encourages them to do their best and use their gifts to their fullest for the greater glory. If you are not seeing this then perhaps you need to look at what is at the center of your focus. AMDG

    1. I’m sorry, but for a “long time parent”, You obviously know NOTHING about this season. He has outwardly spoken of his disdain for this year’s senior class and shown nothing but a complete lack of leadership and class himself. His so-called “man-factory” is a sham of ideals he himself doesn’t follow. His actions this season have been anything but Christian and God-focused. His play calling is predictable and slow at best and these boys are playing their hearts out for each other, not him. He needs to go and go ASAP.

    2. Sadly — “longtime parent”– we do know who he is, and its not the man he preaches to be. Its true the “Man Factory” is a sham and a fraud

    3. WAKE UP, “longtime parent”. It’s obvious you formed your opinion by sitting in a room while “Mark the Man Factory” blew smoke up your a** . Go out and talk with the other coaches in the program, the players and parents (past and present), and the community, then come to an INFORMED opinion.

      1. I have talked to current and past parents and have yet to hear any negative feedback about Coach Nolan…its too bad there are people who think they are entitled to maliciously attack a man who gives nothing but time and dedication year round to these boys.. If your upset about “playing time” for your son then perhaps talking to the coach yourself is the way to go, instead of attacking him anonymously over and over again…..

        1. I agree no one should attack Coach Nolan over “playing time”
They should attack him for the many reasons these posters have pointed out.
I also agree we should not remain anonymous I have logged 3 posts as mbert, my name is Mike Bertinelli , I agree with the majority of what has been stated on this board if you have a problem with that just let me know bent5

          1. I do have a problem Mike Bertinelli, you and these few posters that have several “names” on here have pointed out poor play calling, bad coaching and non Christian like leadership., these are reasons to attack a coach? If your son was the starting running back all season and scoring every game I highly doubt the Regis community would have to hear and see these posts from you…so ultimately it does come down to playing time and you are reaching for other factors to attack Nolan for…if I were you I think I would stick to what you know…the “club” scene and let the coaches coach. Its a privilege to be part of a team not a right…

          2. Attacking me personally gives great insight into how you think — or rather don’t know how to think –but does little to address the serious concerns of the many other parents. If you feel these issues come down to who plays running back you are sadly mistaken.
It its telling that you strike out at others for not having the courage to put their real name to their opinions, yet don’t have the guts to own your own comments.

You, my friend are the true coward.

          3. Im not saying I know everything that went on with Jordan Jungers, however I do know it had to do with off the field issues..My comments about Mr. Bertinelli’s son had nothing to do with Jordan Jungers?? Two separate discussions. Obviously Nolan will never be able to make Bertinelli happy….

          4. bentnoodle… you don’t know what went on with Jungers, you cant deal with Bertinelli, you can’t address the REAL issues at hand,
you hide behind a pseudonym while Bertinelli stands behinds his beliefs. You are a fool with a keyboard. Use your real name and deal in facts or go to bed.

          5. obsrvr, I appreciate your support but the bentnoodle is right —
I just work in the “club scene” as he/she puts it– luckily it has not affected my sense of smell
Nolan is a rotten egg and I been smellin’ him along time, seem like I’m not the only one.

  6. Mark Nolan made my sons Senior year a nightmare, he was not satisfied with using his coaching powers on the field to torment my son, he felt the need to emotionally and psychologically bully him in private meetings. Nolan is a monster who continues to con both Regis and the parents ( the kids aren’t fooled) of players.
You parents need to stop commenting to each other and find the courage to make these issues known to the powers that be at Regis
If you don’ have the guts to stand against this man then you will get what you deserve.

  7. Why don’t the parents of players bring the problems with this awful coach to the attention of his superiors and demand action? At least an investigation, they should talk with the kids and other coaches and find out what’s been going on.

    1. Parents, if you really care about the leadership your sons are being exposed to don’t just leave comments. TAKE THE TIME to share these disturbing concerns with other parents on social media and TAKE THE TIME to express your concerns with the men listed below :

      Rev. Philip Steele, President
      303.269.8013
      psteele@regisjesuit.com

      Alan Carruthers, Principle
      303.269.8014
      acarruthers@regisjesuit.com

      Kelly Doherty, Athletic Director
      303.269.8030
      kgdoherty@regisjesuit.com

      1. It’a not like the admin at Regis doesn’t know what’s going on – they’ve openly backed him on some rather disturbing policies. The problem goes beyond Nolan. They have turned a blind eye and given him free license without consequences. The fault goes all the way to the top.

  8. I don’t understand what all the complaining is about. I think it is perfectly normal for a 5’5″ 40 year old man who has never served in the military to walk around with a marine haircut so people that do not know him will “thank him for his service”. Further more I think it is totally acceptable for a Catholic HS to support a coach that completely contradicts Christian values. Just because a head coach does not listen to his assistant coaches, belittles his players on and off the field and talks down to the volunteers and parents does not make him a bad person. So what if his play calling and time management suck. So what if he is a bully and an extremely arrogant, hypocritcal and incompetent head coach that has left EVERY senior football player and assistant coach hate him. So what if the administration refuses to do anything about it. Keep your chin up coach and remember, it only takes a few good men to do nothing so that you can prevail. I am personally am very proud of you.

    Signed: Diablo

    1. The principal, president and AD are well aware of the malicious comments and the cowardly approach of writing an anonymous letter, and trying to mass distribute it at games to unsuspecting parents that don’t feel the same way, in order to sway their position.

  9. Mark Nolan stands for all the values a Jesuit school reflects. He not only completely fulfills his responsbilites as Head Football Coach and teacher, he exceeds them. He changed the culture of the school for the better by demanding more from not only his players but every student he comes in contact with. He preaches the importance of faith, family, and accountability with the belief that if these ideals are at the center of a team’s core, the scoreboard will take care of itself. He has dedicated his life to molding young boys into men for others. In addition to the values believes in, preaches, and displays, Mark Nolan has managed to bring a crumbling football program to a playoff birth four years in a row, a state championship appearance, and numerous other successes despite injuries and many other struggles he has had to overcome. Regardless of his time management skills, or offensive play calling, The Board of Directors, President, Athletic Director, and the Regis Jesuit High School community should do everything in their power to keep him around simply because of what he stands for.

    1. You used the word “preaches” twice in your comment it was one of the few correct words used in your post. The gap between what “Mr Man Factory” preaches and the way he operates day to day is the reason you see the out poring of disgust from the parents commenting. You would not have had to look far to find the players he has soured on football, the coaches that despise him, and the parents who want him out— but I sense you have little concern about finding that out

    2. Actually you were right about another thing—
Poor clock management is not the biggest problem with this arrogant bully… if only it were

    3. You certainly have the right to worship this hypocrite if you wish, but maybe it would make sense to check around a little rather than basing your infatuation on words PREACHED to you in a room, by a man who has taken PREACHING to parents to an art form

      1. My views are not based on words that have been preached to me in a room — they are based on first hand encounters.

        1. 1 Parent complains- No big deal
2 or 3 Parents complain- maybe
Parents start coming out of the wood work – You have a bad Coach

    4. First of all, getting into the playoffs is no bragging achievement, this season especially given the record going into the playoffs was below .500. Getting blown out in the championship game he took them to was directly due to his lack of good coaching. He was lucky to have boys who were talented enough to overcome his poor coaching, as is the case again this season. Even in last nights playoff game, the defense bailed him out of some horrible play calling and strategic mistakes at key points in the game. Myself and 2 other parents were in the stands actually calling the plays he was going to call and more times than not, we correctly called them. Then you have the enormous delay in plays coming out often times followed by a timeout because he couldnt get the play in on time. No other school in the state has this problem.

As for everything else – You must not see or are turning a blind eye to what’s been happening behind the scenes at Regis this year, or you just aren’t connected to the program well enough to know better. This man is a bully, plain and simple. He has created division where there should be unity, with players and assistant coaches alike. He cancelled the annual senior dinner this year because he openly can’t stand this year’s senior class and just wants them gone. So where are these “Regis values” you speak of? These boys play hard for each other despite his ineptitude. They play hard because THEY are they ones who hold the Regis values to be true, they are the ones who are above Nolan’s childish actions and on field ineptitude. They truly play for one another as a brotherhood, and Nolan has NOT preached that, he has tried to hinder it at several points in the season. So before you or anyone else who might be drinking the Nolan “kool aid” drivels on about how good of a man he is, ask some of these boys how they feel about him. It’s obvious on this board that several parents at the very least are not on board with him. At what point does he look at himself or the administration look at him and say “if this many people are upset, who is the problem?” I fear for future classes at Regis if this man remains there.

      1. Regis has had great players in the past, yet very few coaches that came before him were able to get those players a playoff win, or a state championship appearance if you will. The athletes need to have the correct attitude and be put in the correct positions in order to be successful. Coach Nolan obviously figured something out that previous coaches could not. And the line “defense bailed him out” simply seems like you are referring to a defense that has nothing to do with his coaching. He is the Head Coach of that defense, and as head coach, he knows exactly what is going on with his defense, because it is his scheme. And I will ask the boys how they feel about him.

        1. Your comments are so uninformed that it is hard to respond to you, but I will try
Mark Nolan WAS, I repeat WAS the defensive coordinator and Regis’s defense was weak at best— this year he decided he was the offensive coordinator, Quarterback Coach, and essentially running back coach and tight end coach. Regis now has what is the joke of 5a football in regard to offense and relies heavily on a NON- NOLAN defense to save them. If you have bought into the “Man Factory” fraud then stick with that, when you try to defend Nolan from a Coaching angle you fail miserably and make yourself look foolish.

          1. the defense they run is his scheme that HE brought to Regis Jesuit. And the great mentality and emotion and inspiration and intensity that this defense plays with is a direct reflection of their head coach.

    5. you are soooo… right asdf, when you say that Mark Nolan “has changed the culture”, he certainly has, He has pitted senior players against underclassmen,he has taught young men that far to often adults in power say one thing and do another, he has shown the boys that he feels no need to treat the volunteer moms with respect, he has shown the kids that the man with the power can belittle those below him, he has shown them its ok to bad-mouth others, if they aren’t in the room, he has turned boys who once respected the position of head coach into unhappy youngsters who mock and laugh at him, out of ear shot.
He may be doing more than anyone has in a long time regarding “changing the culture”

    6. The Regis administration obviously has contract concerns in regard to Mark Nolan other wise his continued bad behavior by a person in a position of trust and constant missteps would have gotten him fired by now.
It remains to be seen what will happen. By now he is a constant problem, a possible liability, and an all around pain in the a** for the administration. My guess is it is only a matter of time until the big boys at Regis show him the door.

    7. Many of us will go to the administration, but are waiting until the season is over for fear of retaliation against our sons! Nolan has ‘snowed’ the administration, he’s got them believing that everything is fine (just as many parents & players have for years)…and what isn’t fine is someone else’s fault. He is a master manipulator with a massive ego & will spin things in a way to point at everyone but himself. Many of you also drank the ‘Kool-Aid’, but you will also see the light.

    8. asdf – What makes you think that the culture of RJ has been changed for the better by Nolan? Why do you say the football program was crumbling? The group of boys Nolan was GIVEN when he first came to RJ was VERY talented – he was fortunate to accompany them to the playoffs. When you mention that Nolan has dedicated his life to molding young boys into men for others, are you aware that last season he was so angry during a football game that he hit a wall and broke his hand – what kind of example does that set for these young boys? And another example of his bad behavior was when after a game he came into the locker room and smashed the CD player…with this type of sophomoric behavior, do you still think the administration should do everything in their power to keep him around?

      1. I don’t think, I know. I witnessed it with my own eyes and felt the change that happened through his presence. He brought the best out of every student he came in contact with. He changed the attitude of the school positively by demanding that people do their best all the time, and do everything they can to the best of their ability all the time, not some of the time. And yes, he smashed the CD player rightfully so! are you aware of what song the boys were listening to when he smashed it? It is called colt 45 by afroman — perhaps the most inappropriate song out there. At the very least it seriously degrades women and uses inappropriate language. If you wish to know the lyrics, you can look them up. I advise you not to. As a man that upholds the values he stands for, the CD player should have been smashed. If he didn’t smash it and allowed them to listen to this song, then and only then should we be able to doubt is character.

        1. And the program was crumbling. In the years before Nolan they had won 3 games in one year, they could not get passed the first round in the playoffs despite great athletes. When Nolan came the athletes performed better due to great leadership by Coach Nolan. He didn’t accompany the boys to the playoffs he led them. I guarantee if you ask any of the guys on the 2011 team and 2010 teams that they will say “I wish coach Nolan would have came earlier. We could have never done it without him” why can i guarantee this? because I heard it come out of their mouths.

          1. The boys played this song after many games, why did he choose that particular game to smash the CD player? Why did he allow it to be played after the other games? I would suggest that it was after a losing game & he could not control his actions. Also – how about breaking his hand by hitting a wall because the team was losing? Does that sound like someone that should be coaching high school boys? Both physically violent incidents were witnessed by kids – is this really OK? And I witnessed a program that was NOT crumbling – the kids enjoyed playing football.

  10. Mark Nolan stands for all the values a Jesuit school reflects. He not only completely fulfills his responsibilities as Head Football Coach and teacher, he exceeds them. In addition to the values he believes in, preaches, and displays, Mark Nolan has managed to bring a crumbling football program to a playoff birth four years in a row, a state championship appearance, and numerous other successes despite injuries and many other struggles he has had to overcome. Regardless of what you think about his time management skills, or offensive play calling, The Board of Directors, President, Athletic Director, and the Regis Jesuit High School community should do everything in their power to keep him around simply because of what he stands for.

    1. I totally agree with this post, I also have a son that plays for Regis football and have been to every football game and what these people are trying to say and do about Coach Nolan is malicious and a witch hunt…

      1. Well… you have gone to the games… you must have it all figured out, these other people must be just making all these things up. Why would a large group of people conspire to create a malicious witch hunt .
Get real — he’s a lousy coach, but more important he’s a phony who the kids (most of them) have figured out—- You are just a little slow

        1. I personally know Michael ODwyer, Drew Dyer, Ross Heath, Connor McKay, Casey Young and the Harpole brothers, just to name a few…I dont think Im slow at all, these guys would go to bat for Nolan and tell you what a meaningful part he and his staff played in their overall development as young men.

  11. From a parent who had a son play for nolan for 2 years, I am stunned by these nasty comments that are a passive aggressive way to deal with an issue. If they are true, go to the administration. I did not have the same experience. Nolan brought our son’s team to the state championship and they would not have gotten there without him.

    1. All you see on this board is posting by a bunch of bitter parents who think their kids are better than they really are. The class of 2013 lacks leadership and athletes. Obviously what they don’t lack are gutless parents on a witch hunt. What a great display of Christian values in some of these messages. Folks, this isn’t AYL……..no “participation trophy”. If it is bad as everyone makes it out to be, then yank your kid! Hey mbert……get a life! Your one of those guys who never played a down yet you attend every practice to criticize and complain. Do you have a job? 2013 parents……great kids, good students, not good athletes…..live with it!

      1. Amen Regis Dad!! You are absolutely right on every subject in your post…well said!!! The majority of the parents feel this way!! These negative posts above only reflect the malicious minority spearheaded by mbert.

        1. Hey….I hope all of you get what you want but my guess is that you’ll never be happy. I am just glad my 3 boys are done and I can focus on my daughters. I guess I am around the school too much.

      2. “Regis Dad” Enough is enough. Attacking kids is bringing this to a whole new level. Shame on you!

      3. Regis Dad… Coach Nolan IS the right guy for you, you represent much of what is wrong with a Nolan headed program. I don’t know mbert but he and the many posters on here have done nothing wrong, you lash out at them for pointing out the problems with the program and Nolan.
You sound like a tuff guy, if you have a personal problem with mbert why don’t you take it to his face–AND LEAVE OUR KIDS OUT OF IT–doubt you you have the guts.

        1. Listen “obsrvr” and “2013 parent”……I am guessing mbert is the leader of the lynch mob. This is a guy who has shown up to EVERY practice since freshmen season. He was critical then and he is critical now. I don’t know what his expectations were for his son, but they obviously haven’t been fulfilled. I just love the fact that you choose to send your kid to a Catholic school yet can throw out such venom on a blog. There is quote from the Regis “Grad at Grad” that your sons will certainly know and you should know it too….”Realize that your own selfish tendencies are obstacles to doing justice and replace those attitudes with understanding, acceptance, generosity, and compassion for others.” I bet no one on this board has ever coached high school football. Imagine what is is like trying to please 80 kids and their parents. Worse yet, imagine what it would be like dealing with a group of parents like yourselves! You are a bitter bunch who have forgotten that this is high school football……..period! Let your boys deal with a little adversity instead of running to their defense. Do you gather the mob when your son gets a poor grade on a test or or doesn’t get chosen for some academic award you thought he deserved? All of you must have something better to do than assassinate someone’s character. By the way “obsrvr” and “2013 Parent”…..give me a break…..”Regis Mom” could take care of mbert for me.

          1. Face it Regis Dad, Nolan has issues as a coach and a leader, you most likely do as well.
If this, mbert is “always around” and “always showing up” if he is the leader of the “lynch mob”, sounds like he is easy to find ? Why don’t you take care of him, or are you more comfortable trying it with a keyboard

          2. Regis Dad – who is throwing out venom? How can you assassinate the character’ of the entire 2013 class? Who is the child here?Labeling an entire class of kids as you have done is absurd. I don’t know mbert – but I am sure you feel better thinking that there is 1 person leading a lynch mob (as was previously suggested), that must be much better than knowing there are actually many people out here with the same reactions and experiences regarding a coach who bullies and belittles players all in the name his supposed ‘man-factory’ (what a SHAM)! Why have so many kids quit this ‘great program’? Why are there so many athletic kids who refuse to play for Nolan? Ask yourself these questions. And if it is too tough for Nolan to coach 80 kids and deal with the parents, then he should
            get out.

          3. Regis Dad you have proved a point. You do not know understand about Regis and its 100 year plus tradition. Its about men for others and a brotherhood that extends beyond one class. This is a school with history and tradition that we should all uphold. By singling out the class of 2013 and your perceived thoughts of there weaknesses, brings to question your motivation and what you stand for. AMDG

      4. Regis Dad, You put down an entire class of students because you have a problem with another parent that you are apparently afraid to take up with him. its not the people on this post that have caused the divisive sentiment on this team its people like you and your head coach.

      5. Regis Dad, I agree, Coach Nolan is a football coach , he is here to win games not be a role model to these kids. Coach was stuck with the class of 2013 if he has to do a few things that some of you on here call Non- Christian to put this team together… then so be it
He is paid to win games.

        1. Regis Dad and ftbl parent, you two are great!!
First ftbl parent tells us; ” Nolan is paid to win football games”,he was STUCK with the class of 2013, and Nolan isn’t required to be a role model.
Regis Dad tells us; parents that are concerned and question Nolan are a “lynch mob”, the senior class are terrible athletes, he uses this board to taunt a parent he is obviously scared of, for going to ALL his sons practices and having the nerve to criticize Nolan.

With these two geniuses running around on the loose who has time to worry about Coach Nolan.

  12. All year I have heard rumors about Coach Nolan; the lies he has been caught in, the manipulative and degrading way he has treated players, his abuse of certain assistant coaches, and his failure at coaching the offense.
I have been told by volunteer parents that they have resigned or just given up as the result of the disrespectful and degrading treatment they received from Mark Nolan.
Now I read comment after comment from parents expressing there concern and disappointment in the behavior of the man they have trusted with their children.

Parents say they have not gone to the administration for fear of retaliation by Nolan aimed at their sons
This is a classic bully scenario.
How can we teach our children to stand up for others, to do what is right , if we our selves don’t take a stand because we are afraid or just don’t make the effort.

    1. I first started reading this attack blog last week and It saddens me (and many other RJ families I have spoken with) to read such damaging remarks, from a very small group of parents. This has got to stop. What are we teaching our children about accountability in the midst of challenge and adversity?

      1. You read this; the serious concerns these people have, and your concerned about the accountability of the PARENTS.
Blindly supporting a member of the staff at a school that you work for is one thing but to to assume they are only a small group and that their very real concerns don’t matter is another. I would submit to you; what are they teaching their children about ” accountability in the midst of challenge” if they don’t require Coach Nolan to be held accountable for his actions?

        1. Wow. From a lifelong Regis football fan who has seen the team go through ups, downs and everything in between- how dare you attack a coaches character. A coach who takes time away from their own family to spend time with your child. Who mentors them and will be there for them while you write hateful comments on a blog. These men that you are criticizing are the ones who answer their phones at 3 am when your child needs them, or will hug them after school when no one else will and tell them it will be ok and life will go on. They encourage your child, motivate your child, but most of all they CARE for your child.

What a horrible example you are setting for your children. I for one admire the administration for standing by their coaches, after all isn’t that the message that Regis has taught for years – To be men for others?

And here’s the beauty of it all it’s a Cathollic School that you choose to send your child to. If you don’t like it, take your child somewhere else and next year we’ll see you in the playoffs.

          1. The criticism is not towards ‘the coaches’, it if only towards Nolan. He is an arrogant man who does not give the kids hugs. The kids would NEVER call him at 3:00 in the morning with a problem – he is much too critical and would make them pay dearly! I believe in Regis Jesuit and a Catholic education – that is why I believe the administration will see the light & rein this little bully in before any more kids are hurt!

          2. My son brought
this blog to my attention this afternoon and I am shocked and appalled about
the behavior of adults and especially Regis parents. What kind of lesson are we
teaching our children when fellow human beings are crucified by nameless
critics in public! These comments are incredibly cruel and shameful for any
person to endure, and are a black eye on a wonderful school as well as the
Church. Please stop this madness! Take up your problems with the administration
and the coaches privately. If you cannot, please leave the school. If you can’t
help but comment to any of these blog entries, please have the accountability
and decency to sign your name. Richard Todd

          3. You are right many of the comments on here are cruel, unfortunately I can assure you most of them are true.It is concerning that you mention how distressing this is to the person who has done these things and make no mention of being concerned about the students affected by his actions.
I believe a group of concerned parents has taken the time to address this in a more serious forum with the administration, .Many parents feel they must remain anonymous because of retaliation from nolan that the have either witnessed or experienced themselves

  13. All you parents sound like a bunch of school girls complaining because your kid didn’t play i know coach nolan on a personal level played for him and i stay in contact. don’t hate the coach because he takes football seriously and you son doesn’t have what it takes to compete. your kids can complain all they want but I’ve talked to coaches and they tell me nothing has changed but the kids attitudes and if you really do have a problem call coach nolan instead of these anonymous coward posts
