GREENWOOD VILLAGE | It took a school record rushing performance by senior running back AJ Thomas, but the Rangeview football team is finally in the win column in 2016.

The Raiders outlasted Overland 47-39 Thursday night at Stutler Bowl in a game in which Thomas played no small part, as he set the program standard for a single game rushing effort with 332 yards — on just 22 carries — and added five touchdowns to boot (four rushing, one receiving).

Thomas, who surpassed the previous single game rushing mark for Rangeview (Corey Nabors’ 321 yards), also caught two passes for 55 yards and totaled 387 yards of total offense, while junior quarterback Jaelin Odegard rushed for 51 yards and a pair of scores as coach Justin Hoffman’s Rangeview (1-3) team fell just short of 400 yards on the ground.

Junior Cameron Murray rushed for a touchdown and threw for one and junior Jaion Colbert ran for a touchdown and caught the TD pass from Murray to pace a season-high offensive output for Overland (0-4).

Through just four games, Thomas has already amassed 829 all-purpose yards (548 rushing, 281 receiving) and eight touchdowns and he ranked third in Class 5A among rushers going into games Friday night.
