AURORA | This time, the Regis Jesuit boys basketball team turned aside an upset bid on their home floor in the second round of the Class 5A boys state basketball playoffs.
The top-seeded Raiders — who were knocked off in the same round last season by visiting Poudre — withstood a game effort from eighth-seeded Boulder on Saturday night, finishing off a 56-52 victory at Regis Jesuit High School.
Coach Ken Shaw’s 20-4 Regis Jesuit team moved on to 5A’s Sweet 16, where it will again play on its home floor against fourth-seeded Grand Junction (18-5), which defeated fifth-seeded Fort Collins. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Junior Josh Perkins scored 21 of his game-high 25 points in the second half for the Raiders, while Devin Kadillak added 11 and Kip Boryla 10.
