AURORA | Coming off an emotional overtime win, the Rangeview boys basketball team did exactly what coach Shawn Palmer hoped to avoid Tuesday night: coming out flat.
The Raiders had some early struggles against Smoky Hill in their first game since a dramatic one-point overtime victory over Cherokee Trail and found themselves trailing in the second quarter, but defense and hot shooting got them back on track in an 84-48 win at Smoky Hill High School.
Junior Jeremiah Paige struck for a game-high 29 points for Rangeview, which scored 17 straight points — the last 14 of the second period and first three of the third — to gain separation. Larry Bridges added 11, Dezant Burks nine and Tim Ealy and Tim Wyatt eight apiece as the Raiders improved to 7-1 overall.
Hayden Koller had 12 points and Trent Clay eight for Smoky Hill, which fell to 3-5.
