AURORA | The Rangeview boys basketball team remained in the unbeaten ranks by warding off Chaparral 62-58 in a non-league home contest between Class 5A top-five teams that came down to the wire.
Senior post player Damajio Merritt’s confident 3-pointer from the corner broke a late tie and gave the third-ranked Raiders a lead and seniors Josh Wyatt and Cade Palmer each knocked down a pair of foul shots in the final minute to seal the victory over the No. 5 Wolverines, which moved Rangeview to 10-0.
The trio of Merritt (who finished with a game-high 20 points), Wyatt and Palmer — who contributed 15 apiece — accounted for all 22 points in the final quarter for coach Shawn Palmer’s team, which navigated its toughest challenge of the season to push its winning streak to 55 games.
Rangeview turns around for another strong non-league matchup against Valor Christian on the road Thursday.
