DENVER | The cream of the crop put the finishing touches on Aurora’s fantastic boys basketball season Saturday at the Pepsi Center.

Seven players from city squads were selected for the Show all-star game and six of them contributed heavily in the Blue Team’s comfortable 93-77 victory over the White Team on the home floor of the Denver Nuggets.

Playing in his second straight Show game, Aurora Central senior Carlton Hurst poured in 22 points and brought home the game’s most valuable player award. An Aurora coach, Rangeview’s Shawn Palmer, presided over the Blue Team, which had the lead for the majority of the game and had five players finish in double figures.

Fourth-fifths of the Blue Team’s starting lineup came from Aurora in seniors Hurst and Eaglecrest’s TreShawn Wilford plus juniors Jeremiah Paige of Rangeview and Regis Jesuit’s Josh Perkins. Paige (11) and Perkins (10) also got into double figures, while Wilford — who led the Raptors to the Class 5A state championship — chipped in nine.

Grandview’s Eric Garcia was instant offense off the bench, as he racked up 14 points, including nine in the second half. Overland’s De’Ron Davis — only the second freshman ever selected in the 11 seasons of the Show — finished with four points to round out Aurora efforts in the game.

Cherokee Trail’s Drick Bernstine was chosen for the game and suited up, but wasn’t cleared to participate in the game or in the Blue Team’s two practices because of a troublesome knee injury that will require surgery.

The lone non-Aurora starter for the Blue Team — Akron’s Brady Baer — also scored in double figures with 12.

The White Team was paced by 19 points from Columbine’s Jonathan Snow, plus 14 for Denver East’s Dom Collier and 11 for Lewis-Palmer’s Jordan Scott.
