AURORA | The Vista PEAK boys and girls basketball teams each have playoff games in their first varsity seasons.

Both Bison squads received No. 12 seeds when the Class 4A postseason brackets were released Sunday by the Colorado High School Activities Association.

Coach Josh Brenning’s young Vista PEAK boys team showed potential during a 9-14 regular season and will get a chance for some postseason experience. The Bison go on the road to face fifth-seeded Discovery Canyon (16-7) in the first round Feb. 27. The winner has a trip to No. 5 Longmont (18-5) ahead on March 1 for a second round contest.

The Vista PEAK girls have had a bumpy varsity debut that’s produced a 3-20 record, but coach Matt Borushko’s team will see some valuable playoff minutes.

Vista PEAK is at No. 5 Longmont (14-9) in the first round on Feb. 26, with the winner set to face No. 4 Delta (18-4) in the second round March 1.
