AURORA | The Regis Jesuit boys basketball team might be as deep as its ever been and that was on full display Tuesday night.

Ten players saw the floor for coach Ken Shaw’s Raiders and they all contributed to an uneven, but overall impressive 61-45 victory at Overland in a game between Class 5A Aurora powers.

Seniors Taylor Kallsen and Kip Boryla scored 15 points apiece and Elijah Sanford added nine in a balanced effort for Regis Jesuit, which outscored cold-shooting Overland 33-16 in the second half to win going away.

On the other side, the Trailblazers struggled to get anything going outside of junior De’Ron Davis. The 6-foot-9 center scored 15 points in the first half to send Overland into the lockerroom with a one-point lead at halftime and added seven more for a game-high 22 before fouling out midway through the fourth quarter.

No other Trailblazer reached double figures, as junior Reggie Gibson finished with six points, while University of Wyoming signee Austin Conway managed just four, which included an uncontested layup at the buzzer.

Note: Earlier in the day, Shaw was named one of the five members of the Colorado High School Coaches Association’s 2015 Hall of Fame induction class. The win against Overland pushed his career win total to 670 — third-best all-time in Colorado — in his 40th season as a head coach.
