AURORA | Just before the start of the practice for the 2015-16 boys basketball season, Overland boys basketball star De’Ron Davis will make his long-awaited college decision known.

Trailblazers athletic director Stephen Deschryver said an after school ceremony is planned for Thursday, when the 6-foot-9 center will reveal whether he will sign with Indiana or Mississippi State.

The Hoosiers have been recruiting Davis since before he began his high school career, while Mississippi State came on strong late to knock out two of the three schools — Arizona and Texas — Davis had in his final three in June.

ESPN ranks Davis as the No. 1 player in Colorado, the No. 8 player in the region and No. 47 in the country, giving him a four-star rating.

Rivals.com also gives a four-star rating to Davis, the 2014-15 Aurora Sentinel Player of the Year who averaged 16.3 points, 11.3 rebounds and 5.1 blocked shots as a junior as he helped coach Danny Fisher’s Overland team win the first state basketball championship in the program’s 37-year history.

Official practice for the 2015-16 season begins on Thursday, with the regular season opening on Dec. 1.
