AURORA | In its second attempt to fill its vacant boys basketball coaching position, Grandview has hired Micheal Rogers.

The Wolves had temporarily filled the post a few weeks ago with the hiring of former Arapahoe head coach Dan Snyder, who decided a week later not to take the position, so the school with went with another candidate with a Colorado track record in former George Washington head coach Rogers.

Rogers becomes the second boys basketball in Grandview history, as he follows Gary Childress, who stepped down in March following 16 seasons at the school.

“We look forward to the future of boys basketball under the leadership of Coach Rogers,” athletic director Jamee Ulitzky said in a statement.

During a three-year span at George Washington between 2008 and 2010, Rogers amassed a 53-22 career record. He guided the Patriots to the 2008-09 Class 5A state championship game, where they lost a 67-63 overtime decision to coach Ken Shaw and Regis Jesuit.
