
DENVER | In a game filled with players from Aurora baseball programs, the Black Team (Seniors) edged the Purple Team (Underclassmen) 5-4 in the Colorado Rockies Futures Game played June 5 at Coors Field.
The teams combined for 20 hits in a nine-inning contest in the Rockies’ home stadium and the Black Team built a 5-1 lead before the Purple Team tallied three times in the final two innings to close the gap.

The Black Team included six players from Aurora programs, including four from Class 5A state champion Regis Jesuit in pitchers Brent DiBiase and Patrick Strawbridge in addition to first baseman Caden Wagner and outfielder Geno Macias. Overland’s Jose Cintron and Grandview’s Peter Goldy also were chosen for the Black Team.
The Purple Team included seven players from local programs, headed by four more from Regis Jesuit in pitchers Jacob Thompsen, Chase Allen and Alec Willis along with outfielder Ethan O’Donnell, along with the Grandview duo of outfielder Isaac Smith and catcher Tony Castonguay and Smoky Hill infielder Dylan McKee.
