GREENWOOD VILLAGE | The Grandview baseball team is growing tired of watching Cherry Creek celebrate against walk-off victories against it.
The Wolves ended last season with a 6-5 loss in seven innings to the Bruins in the Class 5A baseball championship series and opened the new campaign Thursday with a 7-6 walk-off loss at Cherry Creek High School.
Second baseman Ryan Robb’s third hit of the day — a single down the right field line off Grandview reliever Tanner Thomas — plated Grant Ferrell with the deciding run for the Bruins, who improved to 4-1.
Coach Dean Adams’ Wolves rallied from a 5-1 deficit after four innings, but fell to 0-1. They play another Centennial League contest at Eaglecrest on Friday before traveling to Las Vegas for the Bishop Gorman Easter Classic.
