DENVER | The Show boys and girls basketball all-star games are set for April 12 at Pepsi Center.

The 14th annual games featuring the best 20 players in the state regardless of classification — as picked by representatives of the Denver Nuggets and a panel of media members — precede the Nuggets game against the Utah Jazz.

The Show girls game is scheduled for 1:30 p.m., followed by the boys at 3 p.m. and the Denver-Utah contest at 7 p.m.

Last season saw seven Aurora boys get selected for the game and the six that played — Cherokee Trail’s Drick Bernstine sat out due to injury — all suited up on one team.

Rangeview senior Jeremiah Paige and Overland sophomore De’Ron Davis played in the game last season and are eligible to be selected again, while Aurora Central’s Carlton Hurst, Bernstine, Eaglecrest’s TreShawn Wilford and Grandview’s Eric Garcia graduated and Josh Perkins left Regis Jesuit to play his senior season at Huntington Prep in West Virginia.

Hurst was the most valuable player in the boys game, leading the Aurora-heavy Blue Team — coached by Rangeview’s Shawn Palmer — to a 93-77 victory.

Three Aurora girls played in last season’s game, including Justine Hall and Diani Akigbogun of 5A state champion Regis Jesuit, who also could return to the game this season. Grandview’s Adaeze Obinnah graduated.

Akigbogun collected MVP honors in the game to help the Blue Team — which also included Hall and Obinnah and was coached by Grandview’s Josh Ulitzky — to a 59-51 victory over the White Team.

The Show game is sponsored by the Nuggets and the Gold Crown Foundation.
