DENVER | Gov. John Hickenlooper’s office announced a celebration for Colorado athletes who completed in the Olympics on Saturday, which will include an appearance by Missy Franklin.
The 17-year-old swimming star — who won four gold medals and a bronze in London in her Olympic debut — will be among those on hand at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Centennial Center Park, 13050 E. Peakview Ave., to be honored by Hickenlooper, Centennial mayor Cathy Noon and a number of other local elected officials.
It’s been a busy for Franklin since her return from the Games. She appeared on the “Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on Wednesday night and started her senior year at Aurora’s Regis Jesuit High School on Thursday.
The event is open to the public, with seating on the lawn around the amphitheater. Parking is available at and around the venue.
