Lacrosse: Local players impress at 40th annual Vail Shootout

Several of Aurora’s best boys and girls lacrosse players headed up to the week-long 40th Annual Vail Shootout and played well against teams of players from several states in a variety of age groups. Regis Jesuit boys coach Jim Soran is the tournament director.

Regis Jesuit graduates Kevin Greenberg and Tanner Scales played for Team Colorado in the Dr. Tom Watts Memorial U-19 High School Boys Showcase, with the team falling short in a 12-10 loss to FCA in the Division I championship game on July 8.

Greenberg — a Sacred Heart signee — made the all-tournament team as a midfielder, while the University of Virginia-bound Scales made it as a defender.

Scales racked up yet another accolade after a few days earlier getting named to compete in the 2012 Champion All-American Showcase July 22-27 in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Scales will play for Team Spirit.
