PHILADELPHIA | A New Jersey man has asked a federal appeals court to revive a lawsuit against the NFL over the number of tickets sold to the public for last year’s Super Bowl.

Josh Finkelman’s lawyer says the league releases about 900 tickets through a lottery, less than 1 percent of the total. The rest go to teams, sponsors and others.

The New Brunswick man says he had to pay $2,000 per ticket on the secondary market. His lawyer argued Thursday that New Jersey consumer protection laws require the NFL to release 95 percent of available tickets to the public.

The NFL said the lottery is not a public sale and no Super Bowl tickets are sold to the public. The judges wondered why Finkelman hadn’t entered the lottery.
