MACKENZIE GRIFFIN

School: Vista PEAK Prep High School

Year: Junior

Height: 5-foot-7

2022-23 averages: 6.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.5 steals

Season highlights: The Bison adapted well to the move from the now-defunct EMAC to the Class 4A/5A division of the City League (formerly the Denver Prep League) as coach Howard Payne’s team went undefeated in those games, won 15 games overall and made it to the 5A Sweet 16 before its season came to an end. Vista PEAK had just one senior and the rest of the core of underclassmen, including Griffin, took steps forward throughout the season. Griffin did a little bit of everything each game for the Bison and her versatility earned her a spot on the 4A/5A All-City League second team. She scored in double figures seven times, including five times in the last eight games with a high of 15 points coming against top-ranked George Washington. Griffin also had one double-digit rebounding performance (11 against Regis Groff) and recorded at least one steal in all but three games. She is a first-time A-Town All-Star Game participant.

Griffin vs. Aurora teams: vs. Rangeview (7 points, 3 rebounds); vs. Eaglecrest (2 points, 2 steals); vs. Rangeview (2 points)
