Season highlights: Coach Howard Payne’s Vista PEAK missed the Class 5A state playoffs in the coronavirus-shortened 2021 season, but returned this season and won a first round game before it was stopped in the second round by eventual quarterfinalist Cherry Creek. Jefferson, a multi-sport athlete who came off a strong volleyball season in the fall, started scoring early and never stopped as she finished as Colorado’s leading scorer regardless of classification. Her average of 23.6 points per game (up from 18.7 points per game as a junior) was tops in the 5A classification by a full four points. The EMAC Player of the Year also averaged 6.1 rebounds and 4.4 steals per game, both of which ranked second on her team. Jefferson earned her way into the A-Town All-Star Game for a second straight season and racked up 19 points in the 2021 contest, which was the third-most.
