Season highlights: In a historic season for the budding Vista PEAK program, which included 20 wins, a second straight EMAC championship and the No. 11 seed in the postseason in its first season in Class 5A, the growth of Hughes was one of the keys. Though her statistical averages dipped a bit in third varsity season because of the Bison’s growing depth, Hughes played smarter and more under control than in the past. She finished just shy of averaging a double-double at 9.7 points per game and 9.6 rebounds per contest, but had seven official double-doubles, including a game against Aurora Central in which she scored a season-high 16 points. Hughes, who finished second on her team in assists at 3.1 per game and third in steals at 2.3 per contest joined older sister Denali on the All-EMAC first team and earned her first trip to the A-Town All-Star Game.
Hughes vs. Aurora teams: vs. Aurora Central (16 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals); vs. Rangeview (8 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists; 12 points, 10 rebounds); vs. Gateway (11 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals); vs. Hinkley (7 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals)
