Season highlights: Coach Tammi Traylor-Statewright’s Cherokee Trail team missed the Class 5A state playoffs in the coronavirus-shortened 2021 season, but won 10 games and returned to the postseason and won a first round contest. The Cougars showed great improvement with the growth of some young players, a group led by Allen, who finished as the team leader in every major statistical category on her way to All-Centennial League second team honors. Allen upped her scoring average by more than four points from her freshman season to 10.2 per contest and had a season-high of 20 points that came against Eaglecrest. She also finished atop her team in rebounding at 7.4 per contest, steals (3.1 spg) and assists (2.0 apg). Allen turned in two double-doubles on the season and the second one game in the Cougars’ 5A second round loss to eventual semifinals Highlands Ranch when she registered 17 points and 10 rebounds). Allen earned selection to the A-Town All-Star Game for the first time.
