For the second season in row, Maldonado set the tone and tempo for Smoky Hill and performed at an All-Centennial League first team level as the team’s leader in scoring (18.3 points per game), which came via a mix of transition baskets, a reliable jump shot and a number of 3-pointers as his 31 makes ranked second on the team. He scored in double figures in all but one game and broke 20 eight times, with two season-high efforts of 27 points that came in Centennial League play. He also led Smoky Hill in assists (5.3 per contest) and steals (1.7 per game), while he ranked third in rebounding with 4.2 per contest. Maldonado earned a spot in the A-Town All-Star Game for the second straight season and scored 12 points when the game was played at Gateway in 2021.
