JALEN WEAVER

School: Smoky Hill High School

Year: Sophomore

Height: 6-foot-4

2018-19 averages: 11.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.0 steal, 0.8 assists

Season highlights: With a lot of turnover from a team that went to the Class 5A Great 8 in the 2017-18 season, coach Anthony Hardin needed a lot of new talent to fit alongside returners Kenny Foster and Quinten Rock and keep the program at an elite level. The Buffaloes won 20 games and made it back to the Great 8 with the help of some emerging young talent, including Weaver, who was a double-digit scorer in his first full varsity season after seeing some spot time as a freshman. Using a combination of 3-point prowess (he was third on the team with 26 made triples) and ability to get to the basket, Weaver scored at a clip of 11.1 points per game to finish third on the team. He also contributed 5.6 rebounds to place second on the team in that category to Foster and he was voted onto the All-Centennial League second team. Weaver will play in the A-Town All-Star Game for the first time.

Weaver vs. Aurora teams: vs. Regis Jesuit (11 points, 4 rebounds); vs. Cherokee Trail (7 points, 5 rebounds; 4 points); vs. Grandview (7 points, 6 rebounds; 19 points, 9 rebounds); vs. Overland (12 points, 6 rebounds; 10 points, 6 rebounds); vs. Eaglecrest (12 points, 6 rebounds; 6 points, 8 rebounds)
