Season highlights: Coach Marcus Shelton’s Aurora Central team earned a trip to the postseason for a fourth consecutive season and challenged for a win on the road in the first round of the Class 4A state playoffs before falling to finish the season 10-12. The Trojans got a handful of games from high-scoring guard Khafre Garrett-Mills before he moved out of state, but Johnson helped pick up the slack of the departure as he finished the season with an average of 15.4 points that was a huge jump from the 4.0 he averaged as a junior in sporadic playing time. Johnson — who finished second on the team with 17 3-pointers — scored 20 or more points three times, with his season high of 24 accomplished against both Dakota Ridge and Thornton. The All-Colorado League second team pick led the Trojans in assists with an average of 3.9 per contest, while he was fifth with 3.8 rebounds. Johnson earned selection for the A-Town All-Star Game for the first time.
