Season highlights: Coach Marcus Shelton’s Aurora Central team earned a trip to the postseason for a fourth consecutive season and challenged for a win on the road in the first round of the Class 4A state playoffs before falling to finish the season 10-12. The Trojans got a handful of games from high-scoring guard Khafre Garrett-Mills before he moved out of state, but Curby — coming off a huge season on the football field for Aurora Central — provided plenty of punch in his absence. The uber-athletic All-Colorado League first team pick got to the rim with ease frequently and had the team’s most effective outside shot as he led the team in scoring average at 17.3 points per game. Curby cracked the 20-point mark several times during the season with his season-high of 30 points coming in a strong conference victory over Eagle Ridge Academy. He also led the team in steals per game with 2.2 per contest — which led to several transition scores — and he was third in assists at 1.7 per contest while he was also good for 4.1 rebounds per game. Curby earned a spot in the A-Town All-Star Game for the first time.

Curby vs. Aurora teams: vs. Hinkley (12 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals); vs. Rangeview (24 points, 3 rebounds)
