Season highlights: With the graduation of the talented backcourt tandem of Tucson Redding and Daijon Smith — both A-Town All-Star Game participants in 2018 — Swanson took on an integral role for coach Danny Fisher’s Overland team, which made a lot of strides during a 19-7 season that saw it reach the Great 8 round of the Class 5A state playoffs. Swanson played a great deal last season, but didn’t get the chance to score much, while he had many more opportunities this season and rocketed his scoring average from 4.6 to 13.2 points per game this season to rank second on the team. Swanson, who earned a coveted spot on the All-Centennial League first team, also led the Trailblazers with averages of 5.3 assists and 2.3 steals, while his 4.2 rebounds per contest put him third from the guard position. He will play in the A-Town All-Star Game for the first time.
