RYAN ONGALA

School: Rangeview High School

Year: Senior

Height: 6-foot-6

2017-18 averages: 10.0 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.4 blocked shots per game

Season highlights: Ongala was a central figure for coach Shawn Palmer’s Rangeview team, which finished 18-7 and made the second round of the Class 5A state playoffs. Signed to Emporia State before the season, he went on to play his way on to the All-East Metro Athletic Conference first team with a team-best scoring average of 10.0 points per game — which included a season-high 19-points outburst in a win over Vista PEAK that essentially locked up the league championship for the Raiders — while he also pulled down 6.9 rebounds per contest and had four double-doubles. Ongala was the second-most prolific shot blocker in Aurora, as his average of 3.4 swats per contest (boosted by seven against Brighton) was only behind Will Becker’s 3.7 per contest for Smoky Hill.

Ongala vs. Aurora teams: vs. Grandview (5 points, 8 rebounds, 3 blocked shots); vs. Cherokee Trail (16 points, 10 rebounds, 3 blocked shots); vs. Smoky Hill (8 points, 7 rebounds); vs. Overland (6 points); vs. Hinkley (7 points, 4 rebounds, 4 blocked shots); vs. Vista PEAK (19 points, 6 rebounds, 5 blocked shots); vs. Aurora Central (12 points, 8 rebounds, 5 blocked shots); vs. Eaglecrest (3 points, 8 rebounds, 6 blocked shots)
