Yeah, so stop your whining, Aurora. Contrary to what you’ve been cryin’ the past few days, it is NOT hot enough to fry an egg. At least not yet.
To make sure, crack reporters from the Aurora Sentinel ventured out of our own slightly air-conditioned newsroom to try and give the over-easy treatment to on Grade A, cage-free chicken ovum.
Fail. We buttered a little foil and plopped our impromptu pan on the scorching black car of ace photographer Marla Keown under Aurora’s 96-degree blistering skies. We got some pretty impressive butter melting, a little coddled white around the edges and a mouth-water aroma of the egg and butter. That was it. No toast.
So quit your complaining. A staunch, faint-invoking swelter is good for the soul. Check back later for the next installment of Aurora Sentinel’s Blazing Virtual Victuals.
Here’s Aurora Sentinel NewsPartner Channel 7’s forecast for making breakfast on the car for the rest of the week:
Partial sunshine giving way to afternoon storms will be the rule through the 4th of July holiday. Temperatures will continue to be hot, just not as hot as they were last week. Mid to upper 90s will be common but some places may touch 100 degrees, especially east of Aurora. Thunderstorms are possible during the afternoon today, but they will be hit-or-miss. Gusty winds and lightning could accompany any storm. There are some minimal signs of relief in the extended forecast, looking ahead to the weekend. Slightly cooler air may build in by Saturday, pushing temperatures back down closer to 90 degrees. Stay tuned to the 24/7 Weather Center for the latest!
