Missy Franklin has been honored in a lot of places since her incredible performance at the Summer Olympics.

The swimming phenom’s Aurora high school, Regis Jesuit, will do so officially with an assembly at the school on Aug. 27.

The school closed the campus to media for the first weekend of school to help the 17-year-old Franklin — who won four gold medals and a bronze a few weeks ago in London — and her classmates settle into the school year with a sense of normalcy. Now, the school is ready to honor Franklin in front of the student body at a 10:45 a.m. pep rally in the Boys Division gymnasium.

The assembly is not open to the public, but will be streamed online by Regis Jesuit’s student broadcasting group at https://live.regisjesuit.com.

Franklin will address the school following performances by Regis Jesuit’s cheer and poms teams, plus an appearance by the Rowdies, the boys spirit team, then answer media questions for 10 minutes before returning to class.

Since she returned from London, Franklin has made an appearance on the “Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” had the Olympic rings tattooed on her hip and been part of a public celebration of Colorado Olympians led by Gov. John Hickenlooper on Aug. 18 in Centennial.
