The Hall of Fames at Eaglecrest and Grandview high schools have a need for nominations for their induction classes coming up later in the year.

Eaglecrest’s Athletics & Activities Hall of Fame will turn 10 years old in 2024 and will welcome its latest class of top athletes and contributors in activities at a Nov. 21 ceremony and dinner at Heritage Eagle Bend.

The 2023 Hall of Fame Class was made up of Davis Bryant (golf, Class of 2018), Will Smith Jr. (track & field, Class of 2004) and Austin Brown (FBLA, Class of 2011) as well as holdover Jordyn Poulter (volleyball, Class of 2015). That brought the Eaglecrest HOF to 40 members.

Those eligible for the Athletic and Activities Hall of Fame must be graduated from Eaglecrest for at least five years (Class of 2019 or earlier) and be nominated by a member of the community. Honorees are selected by a committee of school administrators, members of the community and local media.

Grandview is only in its second year of Hall of Fame additions, as it was created this past school year to celebrate the school’s 25th anniversary.

The inaugural Grandview class was made up of Eddie Yarbrough (football, Class of 2011), Patty Childress (coach, girls volleyball 1998-2015), Kevin Gausman (baseball, Class of 2011), Michaela Onyenwere (girls basketball, Class of 2017) and thespian Erik C. Peterson (Class of 2018). Gausman and Onyenwere are active professional athletes and were unable to attend the induction.

Those selections and those in the future must have been graduated or concluded their service at Grandview at least five years prior, must have demonstrated high moral character and “made valuable contributions and had outstanding accomplishments” in their time at the school. Nominations from the community go to a panel of current and former administrators and teachers, Cherry Creek Schools officials and a local media member for selection.

Grandview is taking nominations for the Hall of Fame Class of 2024 through June 14.
