AURORA | Police say they have located the vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run in Aurora the day after Christmas.
A 2006 black Dodge Mangum was located on Jan. 3 and identified as the suspect vehicle, according to a Wednesday news release from the Aurora Police Department. The car was found unoccupied at 992 South Dearborn Way. Police subsequently said the car does not appear to be associated with that address.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing, and police are still searching for the driver of the vehicle.
On Dec. 26, police were called to the 19000 block of East Montview Boulevard around 6 p.m. after a man was found lying in the road.
Rescuers discovered a 28-year-old man had been struck by a car and was critically hurt. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he died shortly after from his injuries.
The man was struck near Cathay Street, east of Tower Road in a residential area.
The victim’s identity is pending release from the Adams County Coroner’s Office.
