AURORA | A second person injured in a two-car crash near East Iliff Avenue and South Blackhawk Street in Aurora last week has died, Aurora police announced Wednesday.
An 86-year-old man, who was the passenger in a vehicle traveling west on Iliff around 7 p.m. on March 20, died on Monday due to injuries sustained in the crash, according to police.
The vehicle in which the man was traveling was attempting to turn left onto South Blackhawk Street, according to Sgt. Mike Douglass, spokesman for the Aurora Police Department.
The car attempting to turn left collided with another vehicle traveling east on Iliff. An occupant of the eastbound vehicle was declared dead at the scene, police said.
Multiple people in the westbound vehicle were transported to a nearby hospital. Police did not specify the status of the driver of the westbound vehicle in an update posted to the department blog Wednesday morning.
Police have not released the identities of either person killed in the crash.
A spokesperson for the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office did not immediately respond to a request to release the identities of the victims.
The Aurora Police Department Traffic Investigations Unit is continuing to investigate the crash.
