AURORA | A serial child molester and convicted human trafficker has been sentenced to life in prison for sexually assaulting a pair of children in Aurora more than a decade ago.

An Arapahoe County judge last week sentenced Gustavo Andazola-Burciaga, 54, to more than 100 years in prison for the repeated abuse of two girls, ages 6 and 7, in his Aurora home in 2010, according to the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
The two girls who were assaulted told authorities about the molestation in 2017 after seeing Andazola-Burciaga appear in local news coverage because he was convicted of trafficking a 14-year-old girl in Adams County. He was sentenced to prison in that case.
Jurors convicted Andazola-Burciaga in the new Aurora case in May on six separate counts. During the five-day trial, another woman testified that Andazola-Burciaga molested her 15 years ago when she was 9 years old in Denver.
“This defendant is one of the worst perpetrators our community has seen,” Deputy District Attorney Michael Mauro said in a statement. “After more than a decade of justice deferred, the court’s sentence does what nothing previously has done: It protects children everywhere from ever being victimized by this defendant again.”
