AURORA |  One man died and a woman was seriously injured in a T-bone collision on East Colfax Avenue in Aurora Friday night.

Aurora police said that a 51-year-old man driving a blue Mini Cooper was traveling east on Colfax when he ran a red light at Tower Road and collided with the driver of a red Honda Civic a short distance east of the intersection.

The driver of the Civic, a 32-year-old woman, was stopped on the eastbound shoulder of Colfax and was attempting to make a U-turn to the westbound lanes at the time of the collision, police said.

The driver of the Mini Cooper was pronounced dead at a local hospital a short time after the crash, police said. The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office is expected to identify him in the coming days.

The woman driving the Civic was extricated from her car and taken to a hospital with serious injuries, authorities said. She is expected to survive.
