U.S. experts are expected to recommend COVID-19 vaccine boosters for all Americans, regardless of age, eight months after they received their second dose of the shot, to ensure lasting protection against the coronavirus as the delta variant spreads across the country. An announcement was expected as soon as this week, with doses beginning to be administered widely once the Food and Drug Administration formally approves the vaccines. AURORA | Colorado Early Colleges will be hosting a COVID-19 vaccination clinic for the public at its Aurora campus on Saturday, Aug. 21, while also giving experience to its students interested in a career in health care.

The clinic will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 1400 S. Abilene Street, according to a news release. Pre-register online at https://bit.ly/3jY3xhs.

The vaccines will be administered by pharmacists from Safeway, and students from Colorado Early Colleges’ health science career program will be on hand to assist.

“Our students will experience real world patient interaction and health care service delivery,” health sciences instructor Karen Garcia said in the release. “This type of hands-on educational experience allows students to learn faster, understand what the day-to-day work requires in this field, and transition more quickly to their careers upon graduation.”
