Papa Dia is the Founder of the African Leadership Group and has been playing soccer for more than 40 years. Originally form Senegal, Dia moved to Colorado in 1998. His first job in the United States was sorting books at Tattered Cover bookstore in Denver. It was there that he taught himself English, using materials that were readily available at the book store. From there, Dia got a job as a bank teller, then was promoted to an international bank teller, and continued to progress up the ladder until eventually he became a District Vice President at Wells Fargo. He founded the ALG in 2006, splitting time between the group and the bank. Eventually he left the bank to focus on ALG full time. ALG provides a platform for professional integration for African Immigrants, with a focus on social, educational and economic impact. Portrait by Philip B. Poston/Sentinel
