AURORA | Aurora homicide detectives are trying to discern what led to the death of an unidentified person who was found inside a car parked on a residential street last Thursday.
Police found the body after responding to a call related to a missing person at about 3:30 p.m. July 29 in the 2600 block of South Xanadu Way, just east of Interstate 225, police wrote in a a news release.
Investigators have so far been unable to determine the race or gender of the person due to the deteriorated state of the cadaver.
“The condition of the body made it impossible to make any assumptions on the cause of death,” Officer Crystal McCoy, spokesperson for the Aurora Police Department, wrote in an email.
McCoy confirmed that the car the person was found in was not burned.
The case is currently being investigated as “a suspicious death,” according to McCoy.
The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office has been tasked with formally identifying the person.
