DENVER | The African Chamber of Commerce Colorado will hold its second annual business awards reception Friday at the Infinity Park Event Center, where Congressman Joe Neguse will deliver the keynote speech.
The Chamber’s first reception last year was attended by over 400 people and at least 500 people are expected this year, according to a news release. Along with Neguse, special guests will include journalist Roland Martin, Roots and The West Wing actor John Amos and the Cleo Parker Robinson dancers.
The African Chamber of Commerce Colorado is currently headed by Aurora-area state representative and Liberian immigrant Naquetta Ricks. Funds from the reception will go towards the Chamber’s programs supporting start-ups and existing companies develop their business skills.
“By providing skills and support, we seek to increase the vitality of these businesses, avert small business failure, and promote social inclusion within the Denver metro area,” the release said. “We put more than 97 small businesses on the road to success in 2021 with the assistance of technical assistance.”
At the reception, awards will be given out to businesses in a variety of categories, including best small business, best nonprofit, best disruptor, dest woman-owned business, best entrepreneur and partner of the year.The event is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 27 from 5:30 to 10 p.m. at the Infinity Park Event Center, 4400 E.
