DEAR EDITOR: The saddest part of Robert Mueller’s collusion investigation was how a number of major new outlets handled it. For almost a year they presented second-hand information and unsubstantiated reports/meetings as pseudo-facts to link Trump with the Russia election interference.
It appears that competition with the internet for eyeballs may have resulted in them pushing the boundaries of good reporting, which at times came at the expense of fairness. Further straying from good principal some of these same news outlets are now promoting “guilty until proven innocent” and disliking someone’s politics/personal behavior as grounds for impeachment.
In addition a key aspect lost in this intense focus on Trump is why Obama did nothing/little to counter this Russian election meddling. He was the President during all of 2016 when this was going on with his primary responsibility to protect the United States from foreign harm. It looks like he failed miserably at his primary responsibility.
