QUID HAS HEARD that Aurora’s favorite old congressman is figuring a run at the Governor’s mansion in 2014. Tom “Where’s Mecca?” Tancredo maybe possibly definitely is thinking he’ll wade into political waters again to tackle Hick next year, according to The Denver Post. Regardless of how you feel about Tancredo’s politics, it’s refreshing to see a candidate willing to speak his mind enter any political race. That sounds good for a change. In fact, don’t stop at the Governor’s Mansion, Tom? Set your sights on 1600 Pennsylvania … nevermind.

AND QUID HAS HEARD that Aurora’s $800 million cowboy hotel is back on thanks to buckaroos from Houston who are riding into town to build us our pretty new building, which should be visible from space. Aurora economic officials hit the throttle on the development last week when they said they had developers in line to build the 1,500-room hotel, conference center and square dance emporium by 2017. We’re shining our boots, polishing our belt buckles and yee-hawing until opening day, when we can finally ride the Doc Holliday Waterslide for ourselves.

AND QUID HAS HEARD that an employee at Rangeview likely won’t be named, or be in any trouble, for accidentally shooting a student in their car last week. It’s really no laughing matter, Quid’s just astonished that there’s a combination of “school,” “shooting,” “student,” “hospital,” and “gun” that doesn’t result in someone getting into serious trouble. Maybe even at least detention?

AND QUID HAS HEARD a local group said they were targeted by the IRS for trying to register a 501(c)4 nonprofit for tax-exempt status. The group, called the Coalition for a Conservative Majority, said they were bogged down by unnecessary paperwork from the IRS causing them to miss the 2012 election season. That’s too bad. The IRS unfairly targeted these groups and should be reprimanded for their actions. No doubt a social welfare group, like the one the Coalition for a Conservative Majority applied to become, can find it within their hearts to forgive the naughty IRS and go on with the good work they were planning to do for all Americans.
