QUID HAS HEARD that it’s FINALLY time for something completely different at the Aurora Fox theater. After teasing patrons for months upon months about the title of its spring musical, the Fox crew officially revealed they’ll be staging “SPAMALOT,” the hit Broadway musical based on the classic comedy film “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.” Why the delay? It seems that contractual restrictions forced the Fox folks to keep mum about the big show until 2014. That made the crew offer only hints that weren’t always subtle. They billed the production as a musical that wasn’t “Camelot”; they hung a poster that featured the iconic foot from the Python TV series. Quid is happy that all of the silliness over the stage silliness is over, and humbly suggests the Fox folks consider him for one of the show’s meatiest roles. That French soldier who taunts King Arthur and his boys? It’s the part Quid was born to play.
QUID HAS HEARD that now spliffs are super legal in Colorado, everyone’s getting into the mellow mood — including our state Legislature. This year, blitzed by recalls and GOPers harshing their buzz, Dems are looking to lay low on an agenda that won’t totally bite them back in November. Makes sense, considering three Democratic lawmakers fell to recalls, or something similar, after the group passed fairly tame legislation that doesn’t help much to prevent tragedies like the one that happened in Aurora way back 18 months ago. There’s nary a whisper of anything controversial on the docket so far this year, and it’s a shame considering there’s plenty of work to be done. Minimum wage bills, sentencing reform and consumer protection laws have a long way to go in the state, and they’re the kinds of things all Coloradans can get behind. Quid would like to advise the Dems to take a page out the Republican playbook and their own — when there’s not a majority to be found, make your own. It’s not like they control the House, Senate and Governor’s seat anyway.
AND THAT’S ALL THE NEWS FIT TO PRINT
