QUID HAS HEARD THAT the medium’s the message and the messenger these days. Seems Casimir Spencer, chief flack for Arapahoe County’s district attorney’s office, not only has to pump out news about how wonderful her boss Carol Chambers is, but also how fabulous Spencer’s own gig is with Ebony Magazine’s Online Edition as a model for Cover Girl’s Queen Latifah Collection. Despite the typos and the unwieldy title, the news was clear that Spencer is not only just a pretty face, but a pretty versatile graduate of the “prestigious” University of Denver, just like the comedian, Sinbad.
Spencer isn’t alone in making news as a news farmer, however. Seems Denver Post political reporter Lynn Bartels reports on her own Twitter account this week, “OMG. I was telling someone who was upset that I’m a GOP to call me and that I still love him, but I tweeted to the world. ” Oops. Social media is such a pesky thing to media types when they’re reporting on themselves. Bartels goes on to say that her political affiliation shouldn’t come as a shock since it’s public record, been previously reported, and that she’s held other political affiliations as well. So much for swiping the Post as just another vehicle for the slovenly liberal media to urp. “It’s all public record, baby. RT @joshuasharf: @lynn_bartels I didn’t think reporters were supposed to reveal their party affiliations.” Bartels a Republican? What’s next? Michael Rosen reveals his secret ACLU card?
AND QUID HAS HEARD that everybody wants a piece of Missy “The Missile” Franklin these days. Seems like the shoo-in for an Olympic swimming medal this summer has become hot news as she takes her amazing local show onto the world stage. The Associated Press and outstate rags refer to the 17-year-old swimming phenom as “Colorado’s own.” Whereas the Denver Post, which must have been shocked to learn that Franklin and others actually live out here, west of the burg that fishwrapper covers, has dubbed Franklin a “Centennial” property. This rag, which proudly told fellow Aurora folks about Franklin’s accomplishments when they first started happening in the Aurora school she attends, will always fondly and accurately refer to her as the cool Aurora kid from Regis she will always be.
AND THAT’S ALL THE NEWS THAT FITS
