QUID HAS HEARD that during a round-robin session of city budget haggling, Aurora Mayor Steve Hogan dropped prophecy on the city council late in the afternoon. According to sources, while talking about the city’s current prohibition on pot shops, instead of saying “by this time next year, we’ll have marijuana regulations in place,” Hogan instead said, “by this time next year, we’re going to do marijuana.” Which is perfect. Besides the prime minister of Jamaica, we can’t think of another elected leader willing to plan spending an afternoon with a spliff and an original “Star Wars” movies marathon. Hats off to you Mayor Hogan. It may have been a Freudian slip to you, but to Quid, it’s how champions spend their Wednesdays.

QUID HAS HEARD and been inundated from literally a single reader that he’s “tame and lame.” We agree. It’s just so hard to spew vile and menacing words when candidates for municipal elections do it so well by themselves. Don’t believe me? Just tune into Channel 8’s forums of city council candidates to catch all the daggers, jabs, sniggering, grouchiness and bad hair. Why would you need to read pale jabs from a jerk writer like Quid when you can see at-large candidates sneer at each other — perhaps whisper that someone was a “jackass” later — and Brad Pierce plug his website? Bonus: Quid heard the editor of this rag held up the show to get his makeup just right, or something. Perry’s more than just a nuisance in print.

QUID HAS HEARD Aurora’s own Morgan Carroll is now the Colorado Senate president-elect, which is good news for the longtime Aurora lawmaker. The Aurora Democrat has certainly led the charge for urban issues in the state House, and since moving to the Senate, has broadened her scope to include more rural issues like fracking and agriculture. She’s got strong opinions and talks a mile-a-minute, which is probably good considering some of the numbskulls in the state Senate these days; fast words confuse dumb lawmakers. But Quid wonders if that was really a good thing? The Senate President typically doesn’t carry many bills each year, and there’s a measure of decorum she’d have to maintain, instead of passionately opposing previously mentioned idiot lawmakers. It’s also bad news for the fourth-estate, which occupies a table on the immediate right of the dais, a direct throw for any unruly journo. Morgan’s also got a cannon of an arm.
