QUID HAS HEARD whispers at the recent demolition ceremony of the Fan Fare building. Whispers of “She should be the next mayor.” The “she” in question, is Marsha Berzins and the ones doing the whispering were the type who like to settle into the “Price is Right” before warm milk and a nap. But nevertheless, Quid would like to announce his intention to form an exploratory committee to consider the possibility of becoming Berzins’ campaign manager if she intends to explore her own exploratory committee. Or something like that. Of course, it’s far too early to speculate on who might be the next mayor, but if there are rumblings already that Berzins might be fit for the job, Quid’ll hop on her coattails. The woman raised more money than we could make in our lifetimes, and she ran unopposed last year! How’s that for bringing home the bacon? Plus, she’s mayor pro tem, which means in the absence of the mayor, the secretary of Aurora’s interior, our prime minister of silly walks, and archon of Aurora’s all-knowing obelisk, Berzin’s the next in line for her finger on the city’s button. Whaddya think?
QUID HAS HEARD New Year’s Eve revelers in Aurora will need to boogie to another boot-scootin’ venue because the Stampede is closed on Dec. 31 for a private party. Ground zero for Aurora’s country party has always been the Stampede — our own brown barn on Havana, near Parker road — and Quid’s been practicing the electric slide in his parent’s basement for a solid three weeks now. The question here is: Who would rent out the Stampede for New Year’s? It’s the perfect palace for the common cowboy on the eve of the new annum, provided your secretary comes to work with a 10-gallon hat on already. Could it be the city staff? Could it be Aurora’s glitterati? Or is it really a corporate event? Because there’s no reason the public should be kept away from watching Wade from account management get a half-dozen Coors Lights in him and go all spin-and-puke on the mechanical bull. Yee-hurl.
QUID HAS HEARD Christmas is coming. And yes, there are Happy Holidays this entire season. No matter your persuasion, affiliation or affliction, it’s time this year to come together and enjoy each other’s company. For a year, Quid’s spouted snark, snide and shade on just about everyone, but it’s worth remembering that it’s all in good fun. And no, you don’t know who Quid is. I know you think you do, but you don’t. But in the absence of not being able to speak publicly, let Quid be the first to wish each and every official, reader and Auroran a very Happy Holiday or a Merry Christmas, or whatever. You’re all potential targets, so thanks for the year.
AND THAT’S ALL THE NEWS FIT TO PRINT

Tell us you jest, Quidnunc. Marsha Berzins? We don’t need another right-wing Republican as mayor. Aurora is predominantly Democrat, but because of the so called “non-partisan” municipal elections, the City Council is made up of an overwhelmingly Republican majority. Yikes. Quid, go back and read Marsha Berzins’ questionnaire answers during this last election. She said she wanted to go to New York City to visit the Eiffel Tower! That’s pretty scary . . .
What we really don’t need is Mayor Hogan getting another term NOR Molly Markert becoming Mayor of Aurora.
Bet me that they’ll both be working with refugees to be sure they obtain citizenship by election time.

If the court battle over Gaylord is won by Aurora, then Hogan will remind the refugees that he helped them get jobs. Since he is so quick to mention the 2,500 permanent jobs that will be created. Most of which will be housekeeping, cooks, grounds keepers, maintenance, etc.
Markert will probably remind them that she and the chief attended all their events together. Remember us? We gave you the old district 1 sector A police station space! She gave them cops! LOL
While Berzins may be geographically challenged, our current mayor is as blind as a Mole and Molly is as hard of hearing as a Manatee and as slippery as a snake.
Berzins, you go girl!
nice post, thanks for sharing. Happy new year 2015 | merry christmas wishes
