QUID HAS HEARD that not only is Hell’s fury vastly inferior to the wrath of an angry woman, female scorn has no geographic boundaries either. At least that’s the case with JoeAnn Falco, still furious that the reportedly Miami-bound Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates has steadfastly worked to fire her husband, Aurora police Officer Chris Falco. Falco got the sack, temporarily, after a handful of controversies involving his shooting and killing a car thief and critically wounding another. The Aurora Civil Service Commission gave him his job back and a multi-party feud among everyone has since ensued without ever letting up. When this rag writes even one word about Chief Oates, who is heavily rumored to be taking his badge and New York accent to run the Miami Beach PD — yuck — JoeAnn Falco is always prolific in her, ummm, criticism of everything, and we mean everything, the chief does. So who was the first and only person to comment on the story as it broke on the Miami Herald website this week? Hers truly. “Good luck, Florida Beach with your new chief, most of his officers and City are ectastic (sic) he is now yours….!”

AND QUID HAS HEARD that the bedfellows don’t get much odder than at city hall when Aurora nabobs are governing over retail-weed shops. Seems there is regular insistence that the push by Denver pot-shop mavens and lawyers to help Aurora set up rules for pot shops here is nothing more than neighborly love. These folks insist that there is no truth to fears that their kushy jobs are in any way related to each other’s and not proof that a Denver diesel oligarchy is grooming Aurora for a handsomely profitable expansion of their handsomely profitable Denver operations. You’d have to be high and paranoid to think that chummy little pre-meetings outside city council chambers among chummy weed-warriors is anything more than good friends looking for good times.

AND QUID HAS HEARD that it didn’t take long for Conservatives to start eating their own. Talk show folks on “AM510 The Eagle,” or “AM950 The Second Amendment” or “Hot 99.5 The Bill of Rightz” are grumpy at Aurora’s Congressman Mike Coffman for not talking to them. According to reports, Coffman won’t pick up the phone to chat about cattle ranchers or much else. Seems legit. Especially considering that spouting right-wing nuttery seems about as popular sneezing on a busy salad bar. But never fear pundit-weirdos, Coffman isn’t only not talking to you, he’s not talking to anyone else.

  1. I have no idea who Joann is and I really don’t care. Dan Oates is not disliked because he fired some cop, he is disliked because he has failed to uphold his oath. Dan Oates is an oathbreaker in my opinion and doesn’t deserve the honor of calling himself a peace officer.

            Quid isn’t saying JoeAnn is a rag. Quid is referring to the Sentinel. Meaning it’s more tabloid, sensational news or a lower form of journalism.

            I wasn’t correcting anyone, I was explaining the use of the word rag and that Quid was referring to the Sentinel newspaper not, calling you a name.

  2. Quid had to know I’d show up on behalf of JoAnn Falco, her husband and others.
    There’s simply no way many on the department, including their spouses, who will look back fondly in thought about the days of Chief Oates and how he ran this agency.
    He is a politician not a cop. The media, citizens, council and some real cops, fell for his antics time and again. Yes, all agencies have their “problem children” and that will always be the case no matter which one you’re putting under the microscope.
    However, this Chief recreated and in my opinion, destroyed the very fabric of a once great brotherhood in law enforcement at APD.
    To the media: You elevated this man to a nationwide level of celebrity without knowing or seemingly caring about the “company culture” he’d created behind the scenes. He used your frenzy to find the “hero” in the movie theatre shooting to benefit himself. Not the men and women of law enforcement who first arrived on scene, kicked their training into high gear (as well as panic, fear and stress) and guided victims to medical help and safety as quickly as it was possible. Where was Chief Oates? Orchestrating his appearance in front of the camera, that’s where. It probably didn’t take him much more than two hours and a baseball cap later and there he was.
    To the citizens: It’s my own observation and opinion that he liked fewer of us than we once believed. As long as you never challenged him (much like Ken Murphy), questioned him and adored the ground he walked on, you were just ok as long as he didn’t have to run into you very often.
    To council: Prior to the shooting, many of us out here knew he had one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel with most of you. You were holding him accountable back then and he was telling citizens you were giving him a bad time behind your backs. You should be ashamed to represent knowing that and then figuratively crawling into bed with him once those camera lights clicked to ON and Aurora, Colorado made the map.
    To the real cops: I believe he pitted many among you against one another and you played right into his hands. If it meant a pay increase and a promotion or, he annointed you by looking past a bad work or life related naughty, or you were too inept to get there on your own, you happily joined team Oates. He then had the upper hand on and with you. Why? Because now you owed him one! I equate it with having sold your soul to the devil for your own personal gain.
    So many of you didn’t step up and do the right thing by going along with him and perpetuating rumor and gossip. Slanderous conduct and sometimes you outright lied on his behalf to make him look good and secure your position as one of his “made men/women”. With Oates gone, I hope you bring yourself back to center, reconnect with your old friends and fellow officers. Set things true and straight again. Apologies are needed virtually everywhere here and by so many. Work now to restore this department to it’s former glory and brotherhood, pre-Chief Dan Oates.
    I’ve never applied this to anyone else in my lifetime until now but, contained in the word “devil” is the word “evil. I used the word “devil” for a good reason….

I have endured the chief with his actions when he was taking care of criminals, that he and licky pen Charlie made their decision that criminals come first, then their officers. I everyday emailed Hogan, Noe, Oates, Murphy, Richardson and any officer that would figure this out. No one cared but now, I think maybe they did but feared their own opinion and could not voice it. The ones that spoke cramp about the shooting, lets just say what would you have done., ah…the very same thing talk is cheap a real cop comes home.

That’s all really, just pointing out how furious she is at Oates. Otherwise, I gathered that Quid won’t need a pile of tissues and won’t cry a river of tears with Oates departure either.

To use such a derogatory word while blasting this woman leads me to believe that he used it as a descriptor for her, not his newspaper. He may think he was using it as reference to his paper but the semantics says otherwise. Yet another embarrassment for the Aurora Sentinel.

Anyone who undermines their employer, such as using the word “rag” as a descriptor for their employer would surely be reprimanded to say the least if not dismissal. He didn’t use it as a descriptor for the sentinel. If he feels his employer is of “low quality” he should be let go and seek employment elsewhere. I’m reading between the lines and I feel it was directed towards the officers wife.

    For the record, when your married to a wonderful cop and friend for 19 years, and thank you John, and Lynn for the responses when Oates, not you but Oates accuses and disciplines a cop for saving his life and partners …it hits home which means you react, you feel there’s stress with many emotions as a wife because your dealing with scandals and lies everyday for almost 3 years enough is enough, but Oates did not let it rest he continued to harass a good cop because of his huge ego. Now where you or why, you came into this and your previous years and colums slandering me (rags) and my husband is shockly strange unless Oates had some small part in it, or its all you because your friends with the devil (Oates) !!   17. Well… it appears that they was team work pulling this off. Peter Morales is related to Jimmy Morales, perhaps his son. Oates gets the job with Peter’s help in Miami beach, and Cloyd moves to Naples 30 minutes from his buddy Oates. Well.. this is all perfect but Oates needs to come back and clean up his mess with 3 Officers whobhave pending cases on Oates, first one in July 2014, he allowed no voice of Falco, Swanson, and Murphy turning their jobs up side down because oates felt crossed, and no one does that!
    Hoping only to see you face to face in July, on Falco’s case first. Peter, Jimmy, Dave, Cloyd, whoever you dont know it now, but your hands are locked with Oates, the charming devil and so is miami beach. I will pray he does not put your staff at the lowest morale so Oates gains authority, respect or he will try to make your career a living hell. …..try and its all about is very huge ego.
