QUID HAS HEARD that while the decrepit facades at Regatta Plaza will fade with the crush of heavy machinery, the memories of many residents just east of there in Wards IV and V are as strong as ever. In what should have been something of a honeymoon period for city leaders after kicking off the tear-down of the eyesore of all eyesores in Aurora, the soreness persists for a handful of residents still steamed over the planned apartment project going in near the soon-to-open light rail stop on Iliff. You can spot them on your favorite social media sites, quickly replying to any posts from council members Charlie Richardson and Bob Roth, ripping them for not doing something, anything to stop the project during a vote at City Hall months ago. While the rest of the city grumbles about pot holes and wonders how many more dozen birthday cakes the hoo-haws on Alameda Parkway have stashed away from A-Town’s sesquicentennial, these dedicated net-heads are in no mood to let the central Aurora lawmakers off the hook, no matter how stale the issue becomes.

AND QUID HAS HEARD that Aurora’s once and future kiddie-centric festival is back and better than ever, if getting it all done in a day is your thing. The 21st annual iteration of Aurora’s numero uno free kids’ festival put on by City Hall is slated for Saturday morning and afternoon on the Great Lawn. The only downside? Moms, dads, grandparents and other assorted caregivers will have to make the decision between trying to get all the face-painting, pony-riding and craft-making out of the way in time to zoom to the city’s western edge to try and indulge in another of the city’s top summer draws: Cruzin’ Havana. Given this degree of a scheduling snafu and the insistence on squeezing all of KidSpree into a single afternoon, Quid urges you to be on the lookout for Fourth of July fireworks going off simultaneously. Have your fill, Aurora.

AND THAT’S ALL THE NEWS THAT FITS.
