Editor: Recently, Americans for Prosperity began running television ads asking us to thank Mike Coffman for his efforts to repeal, defund or otherwise hinder the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, aka “Obamacare”.
As a resident of the 6th District and represented by Coffman, I took notice.
The ad doesn’t mention that while pursuing the agenda of the radical Tea Party, Coffman helped to shutter the government for weeks. During this time nearly a million federal workers were idled; including FDA food inspectors and weather service personnel at NOAA. Also, national parks and museums were closed down, preventing Americans from accessing some of our greatest treasures-natural and otherwise.
In addition, this GOP engineered fiasco cost the United States billions.
It is unlikely any repeal legislation would have had a chance of passage in the Senate, let alone withstand a Presidential veto. So, the efforts of Tea Party fanatics and their allies to continue to work for the dismantling or repeal of “Obamacare” is a profoundly pointless endeavor.
The United States faces some more serious issues such as preserving a quality education for our children, repairing our aging infrastructure and getting the economy back on track. These matters deserve the attention of our Congress much more than legislation that is doomed from the outset.
So, by all means contact Mike Coffman and thank him for standing shoulder to shoulder with Republican Party extremists and causing a bunch of trouble while accomplishing nothing.

Thomas Johnson is engaging in what lawyers like to call “facts not in evidence.” The problem with his premise is that Mike Coffman NEVER once voted to shut down the government.
In order to have done that, the Aurora congressman would have had to vote, at least once, against any of the series of continuing resolutions that were offered to keep the government operating.
The truth is Coffman voted FOR every continuing resolution — no matter what form it was in — in order to keep the government open. In fact, he openly advocated for a “clean” CR and voted for it when it came to the House floor.
Perhaps, Mr. Johnson confused Coffman with his former congressman. Ed Perlmutter voted against every single continuing resolution, except the last one, then had the audacity to blame Republicans for shutting down the government.
Politicians may lie about this issue, but voting records do not.
And so how did Coffman vote on each house bill to repeal the Health Care Act? My knowledge he has done everything he can to undermine the Act.
Every poll including all the liberal maggot polls show no one wants obamacare…PERIOD. The people that voted for Obama which was in the millions are the same people “NOT” signing up….if over 50 million people voted for Obama why haven’t they signed up..or attempted to sign up?? SEE…it boils down to this…”YOU” the liberal inbreded jacka$$ are all in favor of this B.S. if someone else is paying for it but run like roaches if you have to pay for it…total hypocrites.
